Safe Work Australia’s Code of Practice

psychosocial hazards are increasingly recognized as major challenges to health, safety and well-being at work.

Are you aware that from 1 April 2023, new Safe Work Australia regulations imposed obligations on organizations to manage the psychological health and safety of their employees? You could face a penalty of up to $3,000,000 for non-compliance. We are committed to help you create a psychologically safe workplace, and have designed well™ to assist your organization to align with Safe Work Australia’s Code of Practice: Managing psychosocial hazards at work.

Safe Work’s process for managing psychosocial risks

Safe Work Australia provides organizations with a risk management process which is designed to support in eliminating or minimizing psychosocial risks.

It involves four steps:

  1. Identify hazards - understand what could cause harm
  2. Assess risks, if necessary - understand the nature of the harm the hazard could cause, how serious the harm could be and the likelihood of it happening.
  3. Control risks - eliminate and minimise risks, and ensure control measures remain effective over time.
  4. Review control measures - ensure they are working as planned and make changes as required.
